TL;DR
Medical Oncology PA/NP - Rural (Oncology Care): Providing comprehensive assessment, treatment, education, and case management for oncology patients across rural Minnesota clinics with an accent on evidence-based care, clinical documentation, and patient and family support. Focus on performing procedures, prescribing therapies, coordinating palliative and hospital care, and supporting clinical trials, nursing staff, and advanced practice trainees.

Location: Based at the Chaska clinic with regular travel to the Waconia clinic and Ridgeview Medical Center in Arlington, Minnesota

Salary: $100,000–$180,000 annually, prorated by FTE

What you will do

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for oncology patients and their families.
  • Initiate and document interventions, evaluate responses, and prescribe therapies as indicated.
  • Perform procedures with minimal supervision and provide patient and family education.
  • Provide case management, wellness support, community resource recommendations, and palliative care when needed.
  • Complete charge capture and medical record documentation while applying evidence-based research and reimbursement requirements.
  • Support hospital rounding, weekend or after-hours calls, clinical trial information sharing, staff education, mentoring, and APP student precepting.

Requirements

  • NP candidates must hold an MSN from an accredited nursing education program, a current Minnesota RN license, and current nurse practitioner certification.
  • PA candidates must have completed an accredited physician assistant program and hold current Minnesota licensure and CPR certification.
  • At least three years of experience as a practicing nurse practitioner or physician assistant is required.
  • Experience managing the physiological and psychological effects of cancer diagnosis and treatment is strongly preferred.
  • The role requires handling and lifting patients, extended periods of standing and walking, and occasional lifting of items up to 40 pounds.
