RF Systems Architect (Aerospace)

Location: El Segundo, California, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $228,000–$279,000 per year

What you will do

• Define and lead architectures for advanced ISR RF payloads, including radar and RF sensing systems.
• Translate mission objectives into end-to-end architectures covering antennas, RF front ends, digitization, and downstream processing.
• Lead trade studies involving performance, size, weight, power, scalability, and mission constraints.
• Develop wideband, multi-beam, and multifunction payload concepts using electronically steered arrays and digital beamforming.
• Support technical strategy, proposals, customer engagements, and program opportunities with business development.
• Guide cross-functional teams through architecture definition, prototyping, validation, and technical reviews while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
• 15+ years of professional experience in RF engineering, radar systems, or RF sensing technologies.
• Expertise in link budgets, noise analysis, RF propagation, phased-array antennas, beamforming, and wideband RF systems.
• Experience with antennas, LNAs, mixers, ADCs/DACs, and frequency-conversion chains.
• Proficiency with RF and electromagnetic simulation tools such as MATLAB, ADS, HFSS, or CST.
• Experience in aerospace, defense, or space-based systems, alongside technical leadership and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with program captures and technical strategy.
• Patents or novel RF and antenna system developments.
• Experience in fast-paced startup or advanced development environments.
