Senior Systems Engineer I - RF Mission Solutions (RF)

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based at hirify.global's global headquarters

Base salary: $124,000–$171,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $144,000–$206,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Architect clean-sheet RF payloads by running early mission trades and defining payload topologies, analog-to-digital conversion boundaries, waveform constraints, and cryptographic integration.
• Own technical architectures for new missions and translate RF trade-offs into proposal narratives for defense and commercial customers.
• Work with customers and leadership to explain and defend design decisions.
• Use customer mission needs to shape payload prototyping, R&D priorities, and technology investments.
• Partner with payload hardware, software, and spacecraft teams to transition concepts into buildable flight architectures.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or another technical discipline.
• 5+ years of experience with aerospace or defense RF systems.
• Experience architecting complex multifunction RF, SAR/radar, or digital communication payloads from concept through proposal win.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• For U.S. office work, eligibility under U.S. ITAR export regulations is required, such as U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, refugee or asylum status, or eligibility to obtain the necessary authorizations.

Nice to have

• Advanced degree in RF/microwave, electromagnetics, radar, or a related field.
• Experience with antennas, arrays, RF front-end architectures, TR modules, DSP, radar techniques, performance modeling, advanced waveforms, and spectrum management.
• Knowledge of digital payloads, RF-compute convergence, radiation effects, resilient RF architectures, zero trust, and post-quantum cryptography at the hardware level.
• Experience with STK, MATLAB, Python, HFSS, or CST and spacecraft bus integration.
• Strong communication, collaboration, technical rigor, and comfort with ambiguous, open-ended missions.
