TL;DR
Senior RF Design Engineer I (Space Systems): Designing and developing RF products, including radios for spacecraft and launch systems, with an accent on RF engineering, system design, PCB design, and space-qualified hardware. Focus on simulating and prototyping RF products, defining requirements, developing test procedures, and supporting customer programs and engineering reviews.

Location: Onsite at hirify.global's global headquarters in Long Beach, California, United States. U.S. citizenship is required, and the role is subject to U.S. Government ITAR export-control requirements.

Base salary: $124,000–$170,500 USD annually. Total compensation including equity: $144,275–$206,175 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Define and maintain requirements specifications and support product development decisions.
  • Design, simulate, prototype, and package RF products, including component selection and PCB layout and fabrication.
  • Support test plans, procedures, ground support equipment, and production automation.
  • Develop product documentation, including interface control documents and user manuals.
  • Review proposals and requirements, scope development activities, and support PDRs, CDRs, and TRRs.
  • Provide technical support, troubleshoot anomalies, and coordinate with test, manufacturing, customer, and program teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, RF communications, or another engineering discipline, plus 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Fundamental RF knowledge, including cascaded device analysis, link budget analysis, and HFSS.
  • Experience developing and delivering RF products, from requirements assessment and engineering prototypes through space-qualified production.
  • Strong theoretical and practical understanding of RF communications, navigation systems, and related components.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance and satisfy applicable ITAR eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

  • Experience with space-grade board design, parts selection, performance simulation, and circuit analyses.
  • Experience designing, integrating, and testing RF communications systems for launch vehicles or satellites.
  • Experience leading complex engineering programs and preparing technical documentation.
  • People management, incident investigation, conflict resolution, or project management experience.
