Location: Fully remote or based in an office in Bend, Oregon; San Diego, California; or Raleigh, North Carolina. Travel is required, with approximately 20% of duties performed onsite. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without requiring employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Salary: $96,160–$120,200 per year

What you will do
- Review SCADA requirements and support system design, drawings, configuration, testing, and commissioning for renewable energy and substation projects.
- Verify substation point lists against relay and meter settings files.
- Program and commission substation RTACs, phasor data concentrators, and HMI systems.
- Coordinate network settings and IP assignments, and troubleshoot communications between substation devices and controllers.
- Support customers, vendors, subcontractors, field technicians, and project management during installation and commissioning.
- Maintain NERC-compliant programming, commissioning, documentation, reporting, safety, and quality standards while contributing feedback to the SCADA platform.
Requirements
- 2–4 years of SCADA engineering experience, preferably with substation SCADA systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
- Ability to read electrical single-line, equipment layout, communications, and panel drawings.
- Knowledge of protection relays, power meters, power distribution equipment, and industrial automation protocols including Modbus RTU/TCP, DNP3, OPC UA, and OPC DA.
- Experience with SEL acSELerator RTAC and QuickSet, Ignition or comparable HMI software, PLC platforms, and SCADA networks using fiber optics, RS-232/RS-485, and Ethernet TCP/IP.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship is required. Ability to work in substation environments and follow electrical safety and PPE procedures is also required.
Nice to have
- Experience with C, C++, Java, Python, or Structured Text.
- Experience with PV solar monitoring, functions, and designs.
- Experience coordinating with utility companies on interconnect agreements, points of demarcation, and design standards.
