Fire Protection Technician (AI)

What you will do

• Support engineering design, analysis, calculations, and specifications for facility fire and life safety systems.
• Verify building compliance with current fire codes and maintain the operational integrity of fire and life safety systems.
• Develop alternate means and methods for local authorities having jurisdiction to support performance-based code compliance.
• Manage commissioning from planning and risk assessment through post-commissioning monitoring and adjustments.
• Inspect, audit, and test alarms, sprinklers, extinguishers, and other fire life safety systems.
• Coordinate installations, upgrades, certifications, documentation, and corrective actions with facilities teams, contractors, and fire authorities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
• At least 2 years of experience designing and constructing fire protection systems or working in fire protection consulting.
• Working knowledge of building, fire, and NFPA codes and standards.
• Willingness to work extended hours when needed and travel for specific project requirements.

Nice to have

• Degree in fire protection engineering.
• Professional Engineer license or passed Principles of Engineering examination.
• NICET certification in a relevant fire protection program.
• Experience leading project design teams, with OSHA compliance, fire and smoke modeling, construction administration, or Autodesk Revit.
