Director, North America Region Communications

Location: Chicago, IL — Chicago/Aon Center

New hire base salary: $190,300–$237,900 per year, plus performance-based bonus and potential equity compensation.

What you will do

• Advise the North America leadership team and translate business strategy into measurable communications plans.
• Lead messaging on North America performance, transformation, and turnaround initiatives in partnership with Global Communications and External Communications.
• Develop internal communications for more than 16,000 employees, including leadership messages, town halls, newsletters, and earnings debriefs.
• Own the North America brand and lead employee engagement and employer brand campaigns such as “Play to Win.”
• Manage issues and special situations, including response calibration and escalation to the Corporate Reputation and Risk center of excellence.
• Lead, coach, and develop a team of four communications professionals and evolve the team’s operating model as needed.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive corporate communications experience, including at least 3 years in a senior or leadership role.
• Experience advising Presidents or C-suite executives as a trusted communications counselor.
• Strong strategic communications planning, executive writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience leading complex internal communications through organizational change, transformation, or restructuring.
• Proven issues management and crisis communications experience in a large, matrixed organization.
• Experience in CPG, food and beverage, or a similarly complex global consumer organization.

Nice to have

• Experience in an in-house global communications function with center-of-excellence structures and matrixed reporting.
• Experience leading employee communications during large-scale transformation.
• Familiarity with employee engagement platforms and digital communications tools.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
