Collections Associate

Location: Hybrid schedule with four days per week in the Nashville office; candidates must live within a 75-minute commute. This role is not available to candidates in Alaska, Maine, Washington, DC, New Jersey, California, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Colorado, Washington State, Oregon, or Minnesota.

What you will do

• Manage patient balances after insurance processing is complete and prepare accounts for self-pay collections.
• Communicate with patients and families about outstanding balances, invoices, and payment expectations.
• Arrange payments and establish payment plans for outstanding balances.
• Process invoice and credit requests according to collection guidelines.
• Manage a high volume of patient accounts and provide regular collection status updates to leadership.
• Investigate escalated insurance billing inquiries and inaccuracies, coordinating with revenue cycle and other departments to resolve accounts.

Requirements

• Knowledge of medical billing practices, office policies, and procedures.
• Understanding of the No Surprises Collections Act.
• Knowledge of patient confidentiality requirements and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
• Strong mathematics, written and verbal communication, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.
• 2+ years of related experience in healthcare administration, finance, insurance, claims, billing, customer service, call centers, or management.
• Ability to work four days per week from the Nashville office and live within a 75-minute commuting distance.
