TL;DR
A/R Insurance Specialist II (Medical Billing and Revenue Cycle): Managing delinquent patient and payer accounts, resolving insurance payment and billing issues, and maintaining accurate payment postings and credit balances with an accent on claims processing, collections, and oncology medical coding. Focus on researching complex billing discrepancies, resolving issues with patients and payers, and ensuring compliant refunds and account documentation.

Location: Onsite at 8501 N. Mopac Suite 310, Austin, Texas. Full-time schedule, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

What you will do

  • Monitor delinquent patient and payer accounts and perform collection activities.
  • Review reports, research account issues, and resolve insurance payment and billing errors.
  • Review payment postings, update account statuses, and maintain current account balances.
  • Contact patients to secure past-due balances, verify demographics and insurance information, and document conversations.
  • Answer billing, payment, and insurance questions, resolve complaints, and refer patients for payment-plan support when appropriate.
  • Maintain patient and payer credit balances and process timely refunds in line with applicable regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least four years of combined medical billing and payment experience.
  • At least two years of insurance resolution experience with patients and payers.
  • Knowledge of state, federal, and third-party claims processing and collections guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical coding, including oncology medical coding.
  • Proficiency with computer systems and Microsoft Word and Excel; required e-learning courses must be completed within 90 days.
