Research & Development Leadership Development Program (RDLDP) - Summer 2027 Internship (MedTech)

Location: Irvine, Redwood City, and Santa Clara, California; Cincinnati, Ohio; Jacksonville, Florida; and Raritan, New Jersey, United States. Relocation anywhere in the U.S. may be required for program rotations.

Salary: $26–$52.50 per hour depending on academic level, major, and experience. Robotics and Data Science majors may receive rates from $28 to $52 per hour.

What you will do

• Participate in a 12-week summer internship across MedTech research and development platforms.
• Contribute to projects involving innovative healthcare products, services, and technologies.
• Develop technical skills, business acumen, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities.
• Identify AI opportunities with technical teams, evaluate feasibility, and support AI-enabled ways of working.
• Apply engineering skills to areas such as embedded software, robotics, prototyping, systems reliability, and hardware integration.
• Complete classroom and internal development training, including process design excellence qualifications.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in an engineering graduate program and on track to earn a master's degree by June 2028.
• Preferred fields include bioengineering, computer, electrical, mechanical, materials science, robotics, systems, software, and optical engineering.
• Understanding of ethical considerations and responsible AI practices, including compliance with industry standards and organizational policies.
• Ability to rapidly learn and adopt new AI tools and collaborate with technical teams.
• Minimum GPA of 3.3 strongly preferred.
• Ability to relocate anywhere in the United States as required for program rotations.

Nice to have

• Experience with machine learning, deep learning, IoT, embedded software, prototyping, robot design, systems reliability, firmware, or hardware integration.
• Previous R&D internship experience with Johnson & Johnson.
• Demonstrated leadership experience.
