What you will do

  • Design liquid rocket engine combustion devices, including combustion chambers, pre-burners, and igniters.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, schematics, process documentation, and engineering analyses.
  • Define requirements, evaluate architectures, and integrate assigned subsystems at the system level.
  • Support manufacturing through 3D printing, machining, post-processing, inspection, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Develop and execute test programs, analyze experimental data, and optimize designs.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, aerospace, and controls engineering teams to deliver flight-ready hardware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in mechanical design, development, fabrication, assembly, or testing, including internships.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD tools such as Siemens NX or SolidWorks, including complex three-dimensional combustion chamber cooling-channel geometry.
  • Familiarity with aerospace safety and reliability practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, refugee, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations under space technology export regulations.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing liquid rocket engines, combustion chambers, pre-burners, igniters, or other rocket systems.
  • Test bench setup and performance diagnostics experience.
  • Hands-on engineering experience spanning computer-based design through physical assembly and shop work.
  • GD&T experience and familiarity with ANSYS or MATLAB.
  • Experience in a startup or rapid-development environment.
