TL;DR
Spacecraft Propulsion Components Engineer II (Propulsion Systems/CAD): Developing spacecraft propulsion and fluidic components through conceptual design, detailed CAD, analysis, testing, and production with an accent on system-level ownership and flight hardware development. Focus on planning and executing qualification and integration tests, making risk-based engineering decisions, and coordinating schedules, reviews, and technical delivery.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of the Long Beach office.

Base salary: $100,000–$150,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $111,000–$168,000 USD annually.

What you will do

  • Own the end-to-end development of spacecraft propulsion and fluidic products or systems as a technical lead.
  • Create conceptual and detailed CAD designs for propulsion components and perform performance calculations and engineering analysis.
  • Review and approve drawings, 3D PMI, reports, specifications, qualification reports, and flight hardware releases.
  • Plan, set up, instrument, execute, and analyze propulsion tests, including integration and troubleshooting of flight hardware.
  • Build and maintain project schedules, prioritize work, coordinate engineers and technicians, and communicate status to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to engineering standards, training, documentation, and process development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
  • At least 2 years of experience in propulsion system development or another high-performance engineering field.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Experience with engineering design, analysis, testing, or development processes is relevant to the role.

Nice to have

  • Mechanical design experience with NX or equivalent CAD software and PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
  • Experience with electrical or chemical propulsion systems and different storable propellants.
  • Experience developing requirements and verification sets, test plans, test reports, and end-to-end qualification and acceptance processes.
  • Python data manipulation, National Instruments data acquisition systems, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
  • Master’s or PhD in engineering and hands-on integration, testing, or flight hardware troubleshooting experience.
