Focus on leading end-to-end product development, approving flight-part designs and qualification reports, solving technical risks, and coordinating engineering schedules and test activities.
Location: Long Beach, California, United States; based out of the Long Beach office.
Base Salary: $115,000–$173,000 USD annually. Total Compensation, including equity: $135,000–$208,000 USD annually.

What you will do
- Own the development of spacecraft propulsion and fluidic products or systems and serve as a technical lead throughout the end-to-end development process.
- Create conceptual and detailed CAD designs, performance calculations, and analyses for propulsion components.
- Review and approve drawings, 3D PMI, reports, specifications, flight-part releases, and qualification decisions.
- Plan, set up, instrument, execute, and analyze propulsion integration and testing, including hands-on work with flight hardware.
- Make risk-based engineering decisions and communicate with internal and external project stakeholders.
- Manage schedules and priorities, coordinate engineers and technicians, mentor team members, and improve engineering processes and documentation.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience in propulsion system development or an equivalent high-performance engineering field.
- Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or another technical engineering discipline.
- Detailed mechanical design experience with NX or equivalent CAD software, plus PLM tools such as Teamcenter, Windchill, or similar systems.
- Experience with design reviews, flight-part release approvals, qualification reports, requirements, qualification, production, and acceptance testing.
- Hands-on integration and testing experience, ideally using National Instruments equipment and software, and experience with electrical and chemical storable propellants.
- U.S. citizenship and willingness to obtain a security clearance are required. Work on U.S. office programs is subject to ITAR eligibility and applicable U.S. work authorization requirements.
Nice to have
- Python experience for data manipulation and post-processing.
- Experience with GD&T, engineering drawings, requirements and verification sets, test plans, test reports, and National Instruments data acquisition systems.
- Experience testing and troubleshooting flight hardware.
- Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline.
- Experience making physics-based, standards-based, and technical risk-informed decisions in ambiguous environments.
