Aerospace Engineer II

Location: Washington, DC, at the Naval Research Laboratory; U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance are required.

Salary: $100,000–$133,000 per year, depending on experience and location. Eligible for an annual performance bonus and potential equity or incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Conduct advanced fluid dynamics simulations across a wide range of flight regimes.
• Characterize aerodynamic loads and aerothermal environments.
• Develop and apply trajectory modeling tools.
• Integrate aerodynamic predictions into six-degree-of-freedom models.
• Apply CFD, CAD, and data analysis tools to support simulation-based aerospace design.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance required; TS/SCI is preferred.
• Approximately two years of relevant aerospace engineering experience involving aerodynamic or aerothermal analysis.
• Working knowledge of CFD tools including Star-CCM, CBAero, Cart3D, and TAOS.
• Experience with trajectory modeling and six-degree-of-freedom models.
• Proficiency with CAD software such as Siemens NX Design or SolidWorks, and data analysis tools such as MATLAB.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
