Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Components Engineer II

Location: Long Beach, California, United States. This is a US office-based role supporting propulsion engineering programs.

Base salary: $132,000–$220,000 USD annually. Total compensation, including equity: $165,000–$277,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Own the development of new and existing propulsion products and systems as a technical lead.
• Develop conceptual and detailed CAD designs for propulsion components and perform performance calculations and engineering analysis.
• Review and approve drawings, 3D PMI, reports, specifications, qualification reports, and flight-hardware releases.
• Plan, set up, instrument, execute, and analyze propulsion tests, including hands-on integration and troubleshooting.
• Coordinate project schedules, priorities, task assignments, status reporting, and communication with internal and external stakeholders.
• Mentor engineers and technicians and contribute to engineering standards, processes, training, and documentation.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in propulsion system development or an equivalent high-performance engineering field.
• Bachelor’s degree in aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics, or another relevant engineering discipline.
• Detailed mechanical design experience with NX or equivalent CAD software and PLM systems such as Teamcenter or Windchill.
• Experience with end-to-end development, including requirements, detailed design, qualification, production, acceptance testing, and flight-hardware design reviews.
• Hands-on integration and testing experience, ideally with National Instruments equipment and software.
• US citizenship and willingness to obtain a security clearance are required. US office roles are subject to ITAR and related US export-control eligibility requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with requirement and verification sets, test plans, test reports, GD&T, and engineering drawings.
• Python experience for data manipulation and post-processing.
• Experience with National Instruments data acquisition systems and flight-hardware testing.
• Master’s degree or PhD in a relevant discipline.
• Strong hands-on engineering skills and comfort making decisions under ambiguity using engineering principles, standards, risk assessments, test data, and physics-based models.
