TL;DR
Turbomachinery Engineer II (Rocket Propulsion): Designing, developing, and testing turbopump hardware for next-generation rocket propulsion systems with an accent on cryogenic pumps, turbines, seals, CFD, and FEA. Location: El Segundo, California, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. government authorizations.

Salary: $108,000–$129,900 per year, plus stock options and benefits.

What you will do

  • Design and develop turbopump components, including cryogenic pumps, turbines, and seals, from concept through flight-ready implementation.
  • Create CAD models, drawings, schematics, and process documentation for parts and assemblies.
  • Define requirements, evaluate architecture trades, and integrate assigned subsystems at the system level.
  • Perform CFD and FEA analyses covering efficiency, head curves, and mechanical integrity under operating conditions.
  • Work with manufacturing on 3D printing, machining, post-processing, inspection, and design-for-manufacturing improvements.
  • Develop and execute test programs, analyze experimental data, and collaborate with mechanical, aerospace, controls, and manufacturing teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in aerospace propulsion systems or related areas.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Siemens NX or SolidWorks and experience designing structural or mechanical flight hardware.
  • Experience with early-stage vehicle architecture and design trades, plus strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must meet U.S. Government Space Technology Export Regulation eligibility requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, independent working ability, accountability, and transparency.

Nice to have

  • Experience designing turbopump parts, cryogenic pumps, turbines, seals, or other rocket systems.
  • Test bench setup and performance diagnostics experience.
  • Hands-on engineering experience spanning computer-based design through physical hardware work.
  • Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and familiarity with aerospace safety and reliability practices.
