Manufacturing Technician II / Machinist

Location: Wamego, Kansas, United States; onsite, full-time

Salary: $19.21–$28.81 per hour

What you will do

• Unload steel plate from trucks and rail cars, maintain accurate inventory, and move materials using forklifts, overhead cranes, and blasting equipment.
• Review manufacturing orders, select materials, nest part profiles, and operate CNC plasma or oxy-fuel cutting machines.
• Operate CNC machining centers and vertical milling machines, setting speeds, feeds, coolant flow, cutting depth, and angles.
• Assemble and tack-weld units, operate robot welding systems, and finish-weld sub-assemblies to print specifications.
• Repair unacceptable welds using air arc and grinders, inspect welds, and verify critical measurements and finished-part conformance.

Requirements

• One-year certificate from a college or technical school plus 1–2 years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Ability to read and understand manufacturing prints and apply quality standards and tolerances.
• Ability to safely use overhead lifting devices and operate forklifts.
• Ability to follow detailed written and oral instructions, perform basic calculations, and communicate effectively in individual and small-group settings.
• Ability to stand regularly, use hands for handling and control tasks, climb or balance, and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
