TL;DR
Gel Coater (Small Parts) (Fiberglass Manufacturing): Applying and finishing gelcoat on molded boat components and small fiberglass parts with an accent on surface preparation, spray application, curing control, and cosmetic quality. Focus on mixing and catalyzing materials, identifying defects, performing touch-ups, and safely operating production equipment and vehicles.
Location: Vonore, Tennessee, United States; onsite, full-time

What you will do
- Prepare, clean, mask, and inspect molds and surfaces before gelcoat application.
- Measure, mix, and catalyze gelcoat materials according to specifications and environmental conditions.
- Apply gelcoat to molds, hulls, decks, and molded components using spray equipment.
- Monitor curing and identify defects such as runs, fisheyes, orange peel, and uneven coverage.
- Perform visual inspections, minor touch-ups, and corrections to meet cosmetic and quality standards.
- Clean and maintain spray equipment, tools, and work areas; safely operate forklifts or tugger vehicles to move materials and components.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to measure, mix, and apply gelcoat according to written instructions and specifications.
- Ability to operate spray equipment, hand tools, and finishing tools.
- Ability to read work instructions, production schedules, and safety procedures.
- Ability to work safely with chemicals, resins, catalysts, and solvents while using required PPE.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work around noise, dust, and fumes; overtime may be required.
Nice to have
- Experience with gelcoat application, fiberglass manufacturing, composites, painting, or marine production.
- Experience using spray guns in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Familiarity with mold preparation, masking, surface preparation, curing characteristics, and common surface defects.
- Experience in boat, marine, or fiberglass manufacturing and team-based production environments.
