Senior Architect, Transit Facilities

Location: Chicago, Illinois, United States; hybrid

Salary: $120,000–$160,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead architectural planning, design, and documentation for passenger stations, support buildings, rail yards, and maintenance facilities.
• Coordinate architectural work with structural, MEP, and civil disciplines throughout the project lifecycle.
• Manage subconsultants and internal design teams, ensuring coordinated and technically sound deliverables.
• Interpret and implement client standards, agency requirements, local codes, and federal guidelines.
• Participate in client meetings, presentations, and stakeholder engagement.
• Oversee work from conceptual design through construction documents, construction administration, and QA/QC review.

Requirements

• Registered Architect in Illinois, or ability to obtain registration through reciprocity.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from an accredited program.
• At least 10 years of architectural experience focused on transit, transportation, or public infrastructure.
• Experience working with major transit or transportation agencies, including CTA, Metra, Amtrak, or DOTs.
• Strong knowledge of Chicago and Illinois building codes, ADA requirements, NFPA standards, and transit agency design guidelines.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite, with experience in technical design, documentation, and construction-phase services.

Nice to have

• Experience with federally funded projects and FTA requirements.
• Experience with Design-Build or alternative delivery projects.
• LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable and resilient infrastructure design.
• Experience with 3D visualization tools.
