Fire Protection Project Engineer

Location: Remote within the United States; role associated with St. Louis, Missouri, and occasional on-site project observations may be required.

What you will do

• Design complete fire protection systems, including sprinkler piping, fire alarms, smoke control, special hazards, and mass notification.
• Prepare engineering concepts, distribution plans, riser diagrams, schedules, specifications, design analyses, and reports.
• Provide life safety, building code, and fire code consulting, including hazard classification and standards investigations.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, building owners, and property management across multiple projects.
• Review RFIs, shop drawings, construction documents, and site conditions; prepare inspection reports and construction cost opinions.
• Perform commissioning support and QA/QC checks, while mentoring entry-level and technician staff.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, mechanical engineering, architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or fire protection engineering.
• At least 5 years of facility design and construction experience.
• Active PE registration and successful completion of the Fire Protection portion of the NCEES PE Exam.
• Ability to provide consulting services for medium to large-scale projects with minimal supervision.
• Knowledge of fire behavior, combustion, heat transfer, fluid dynamics, fire protection equipment, and applicable codes and standards.
• Strong technical, written, verbal, organizational, documentation, and client communication skills.
