Senior Architect - Mergers and Acquisitions (Fintech)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work with in-person attendance at an assigned office at least two days per week

Salary: $142,500–$237,500 annually, with potential eligibility for annual bonuses and, for some positions, long-term incentives.

What you will do

• Lead technical due diligence of acquisition targets, assessing infrastructure, application stacks, code quality, data layers, technical debt, scalability, and operational risks.
• Define target-state architecture options aligned with enterprise architecture and information security standards.
• Build technology cost models covering CapEx, OpEx, migration requirements, and standalone readiness, and contribute to deal valuation.
• Design and execute post-close integration roadmaps from Day 1 readiness through target-state operations.
• Govern technology Transition Service Agreements, including milestone tracking, secure exits, and stranded-cost reduction.
• Drive consolidation of AWS, GCP, and Azure environments, legacy data centers, and enterprise back-office systems while tracking integration budgets.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience in enterprise architecture, engineering leadership, or technical consulting, including at least 2 years leading global M&A transactions.
• Demonstrated ownership of the full M&A lifecycle, from pre-diligence scoping through post-close integration or complex carve-out separation.
• Direct experience creating, negotiating, tracking, and exiting technology TSAs for divestitures.
• Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture, enterprise application integration, software engineering and SDLC evaluation, data engineering and analytics pipelines, and modern cybersecurity frameworks.
• Experience building CapEx/OpEx technology cost models and managing multi-million-dollar post-close integration budgets.
• Ability to provide executive technical leadership and coordinate with engineering, Legal, HR, and Security teams.

Nice to have

• Experience with M&A in regulated data, fintech, financial services, or credit-reporting environments.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related technical field.
• AWS or Azure Solutions Architect, CISSP, Certified M&A Professional, or similar certification.
