Staff Architect (Azure)

Location: Remote in WA, OR, ID, AZ, TX, GA, SC, NC, CA, or VA. Washington residents within reasonable driving distance of Tukwila must work from headquarters on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; other approved remote locations are remote.

Salary: Target pay range of $171,700–$209,800 annually; full pay range of $133,100–$248,300 annually. Performance-based compensation incentives are also available.

What you will do

• Lead comprehensive enterprise solution architectures aligned with strategic objectives, technical blueprints, scalability, security, reliability, and compliance standards.
• Support application portfolio management and evaluate applications, platforms, architectural alignment, and technology decisions.
• Participate in architecture governance, design reviews, design gates, Architecture Review Board, and Change Advisory Board activities.
• Provide architecture expertise across Azure, cloud, infrastructure, networking, software, hosting environments, and related technology initiatives.
• Personally develop, review, document, and challenge complex architecture designs while managing multiple simultaneous solution efforts.
• Evaluate security, risk, regulatory requirements, supplier technologies, emerging technologies, and long-term business value; collaborate with technology and business stakeholders and mentor junior architects.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information security, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 7 years of experience designing and implementing technology architectures, including managing delivery of multiple simultaneous complex technology solutions.
• Advanced knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including microservices, RESTful APIs, scalable designs, digital platforms, and modern on-premise, cloud, and hybrid hosting environments.
• Advanced knowledge of hosting architecture, security, and risk management, including IAM, access control, monitoring, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and containers.
• Familiarity with Microsoft infrastructure and solution stacks and experience integrating supplier technologies into enterprise systems.
• Deep understanding and hands-on experience with Lean, Agile, and Scrum methodologies.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, facilitation, presentation, organizational, problem-solving, negotiation, and customer service skills.

Nice to have

• Certification in LEAN, Agile/Scrum, or ITIL with demonstrated implementation success.
• Experience with scaled agile frameworks such as SAFe.
• Knowledge of industry trends, best practices, and architectural frameworks such as The Open Group, NIST, ISO 19xxx, BizBok, and Gartner.
