Senior Principal, Trade & Settlements (Architecture)

Location: Chicago, IL, United States. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without current or future employment-based visa sponsorship.

Salary: $164,600–$288,000 USD annual base pay.

What you will do

• Own the target-state architecture, transition states, migration roadmap, and architectural guardrails for Settlements Modernization.
• Lead architecture for the strategic settlement platform and its ecosystem, including controlled coexistence with legacy capabilities and phased market migration to TCS BaNCS GSP.
• Define architecture across trade capture, sanctions and sufficiency checks, FX initiation, settlement processing, market and depository connectivity, reconciliation, exception management, and reporting.
• Drive application rationalization through capability mapping, interface analysis, and evidence-based disposition decisions.
• Govern solution designs, APIs and events, data models, security, resilience, observability, cloud adoption, and technical debt.
• Partner with product, engineering, operations, risk, security, infrastructure, data, and enterprise architecture teams while mentoring architecture talent.

Requirements

• 18+ years of experience in enterprise, solution, or domain architecture for complex, regulated financial-services platforms.
• Deep knowledge of securities post-trade processing and settlement, including exceptions, reconciliations, market and depository connectivity, and global custody operating models.
• Experience leading legacy modernization, phased migration, platform transformation, coexistence, and application rationalization.
• Strong architecture experience with distributed systems, APIs, event-driven integration, data architecture, cloud and platform engineering, security, resilience, observability, and non-functional design.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with global custody, asset servicing, broker/dealer, market infrastructure, or other high-volume post-trade environments.
• Exposure to TCS BaNCS or comparable enterprise securities-processing platforms.
• Understanding of DTCC, CREST, ISO 20022, and settlement market infrastructures.
• Experience defining architecture roadmaps across large application estates.
