Machine Shop Supervisor (CNC Machining)

What you will do

• Lead and oversee daily CNC turning and milling operations across one or more plant areas and shifts.
• Schedule production and allocate labor and resources to maximize machine utilization, throughput, cost efficiency, and on-time delivery.
• Develop and cross-train shop-floor employees while supporting hiring interviews, performance evaluations, and workforce planning.
• Maintain a strong safety, quality, discipline, and accountability culture across the machine shop.
• Act as the escalation point for shop-floor issues and coordinate solutions with Engineering, Quality, Planning, Procurement, Maintenance, and Production Control.
• Use SQDPC metrics and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, improve productivity, maintain inventory accuracy, and minimize downtime.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of manufacturing experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
• Knowledge of CNC operation and setup principles, tooling, online and offline programming, machine controls, and metal machining with lathes, mills, CNC tooling, and manual machines.
• Experience with MES, LES, and ERP systems; QAD knowledge is preferred.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Teams, and Outlook.
• Ability to work on the shop floor and in an office, lift up to 35 pounds, perform required physical movements, and adapt to changing shift assignments.

Nice to have

• Associate degree or equivalent education.
• At least 3 years of experience with metal machining and manual machine tools.
• Knowledge of QAD reporting services.
• Experience promoting Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methods.
