Senior Engineer (SQL Server)

Location: Chennai; hybrid work with in-person attendance at an assigned hirify.global office for a minimum of two days per week. The role provides support during UK business hours and includes out-of-hours DBA on-call duties.

What you will do

• Build and maintain optimized, highly available database platforms.
• Build and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines for automated database deployment and configuration.
• Establish standards for highly available and fault-tolerant systems.
• Troubleshoot database and data issues, advise on data growth and maintenance, and support product delivery teams.
• Develop proof-of-concept solutions and help development teams ensure solution operability.
• Support database security, compliance, UK business operations, and the DBA on-call rota.

Requirements

• At least five years of experience as a SQL Server DBA, working with MS SQL Server 2014 or later.
• Enterprise experience supporting PostgreSQL, database migrations and upgrades, and advanced T-SQL, including stored procedures and SQL Agent Jobs.
• Experience with high availability and disaster recovery technologies, including Mirroring and Always On Availability Groups.
• Experience with transactional replication, source control for database projects, and automated deployment workflows.
• Working knowledge of TFS/Azure DevOps Server, Octopus Deploy, PowerShell scripting, DevOps, Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
• Strong troubleshooting, communication, and interpersonal skills, with experience handling sensitive data securely.
