TL;DR
Transit Planner (Transportation Planning): Leading and supporting transit planning and analysis for rail, bus, corridor, service, multimodal access, feasibility, environmental, and long-range transportation projects with an accent on data-driven analysis, GIS mapping, and community-focused mobility solutions. Focus on developing planning documents, collaborating across engineering and architecture disciplines, supporting proposals and grants, and building client relationships across the Pacific Northwest.

Location: Bellevue, Washington, or Portland, Oregon, United States. Hybrid schedule with three days in the office and two days working remotely.

Compensation: $91,976.90–$105,116.46 per year.

What you will do

  • Lead and support transit planning and analysis for complex, multidisciplinary projects across the Pacific Northwest.
  • Contribute to rail and bus studies, corridor and service planning, multimodal access initiatives, feasibility studies, alternatives analyses, environmental planning, and long-range transportation plans.
  • Develop data-driven planning materials using multimodal transportation analysis, GIS mapping, visual presentations, technical writing, and planning documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal disciplines, external partners, technical subconsultants, public agencies, contractors, stakeholders, and community members.
  • Support proposals, business development, strategic positioning, grant applications, and future pursuits.
  • Serve as a task lead and emerging seller-doer with direct client interaction.

Requirements

  • At least four years of relevant experience in transit and transportation planning.
  • Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, public policy and administration, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Experience preparing transit master plans, transportation analyses, alternatives analyses, environmental technical reports, and related planning documents.
  • Cross-modal understanding, including active transportation, mixed-mode corridors, and road and rider safety.
  • Professional networking experience in the Pacific Northwest through industry events, continuing education, and network development.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting transit and transportation grant applications and grant-funded projects.
  • Proposal writing and business development experience.
  • Experience with GIS or graphic illustration programs.
