Underwriter - Financial Lines

Location: Hato Rey, Puerto Rico; primarily office-based

What you will do

• Underwrite new and renewal Financial Lines business in accordance with established guidelines.
• Analyze financial statements, applications, supporting documents, and additional risk information.
• Negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, deal structures, and coverage with brokers and clients.
• Evaluate risks, determine appropriate premiums, and quote and issue policies for profitable lines of business.
• Expand broker relationships, generate new business, and identify cross-selling opportunities with distribution and other underwriting teams.
• Train brokers and insureds on products and contribute to operational efficiencies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration; Accounting or Finance preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proven exposure to underwriting concepts and relevant underwriting experience.
• Proficiency with Adobe and Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Excellent written and verbal English and Spanish, including negotiation and networking skills.
• Strong organization, time management, analytical thinking, strategic judgment, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive, tenacious, technically skilled, focused, and accountable approach to customer and sales responsibilities.
