Commercial Lines Underwriter

Location: Montgomery, Alabama, United States. Initial training is conducted in person, followed by a merit-based work-from-home program as defined by leadership.

What you will do

• Apply commercial insurance coverages, rules, and guidelines to support underwriting decisions.
• Learn insurance contracts, policies, forms, endorsements, and company underwriting procedures.
• Analyze loss experience, financial conditions, and physical characteristics of commercial risks.
• Assemble information, develop risk opinions, and communicate decisions using sound reasoning.
• Communicate with independent agents and associates in writing and verbally.
• Complete the company’s underwriter training program and develop product knowledge.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in property and casualty underwriting.
• Ability to organize data, multitask, and make independent decisions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues and exercise sound judgment.
• Must be able to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
