Location: Chicago, IL — Chicago/Aon Center
Salary: $104,200–$130,200 per year, plus eligibility for a performance-based bonus.

What you will do
- Develop, maintain, and enforce trade compliance policies, procedures, internal controls, and record-keeping practices.
- Ensure accurate HTS classification, country-of-origin determinations, tariff application, and import documentation.
- Serve as the North American subject matter expert for customs compliance and regulations.
- Manage US and Canadian customs audits, government inquiries, broker relationships, risk mitigation, and corrective actions.
- Assess customs-related business impacts and execute savings opportunities involving FTZs, bonded warehousing, duty deferral, free trade agreements, duty drawback, re-export programs, valuation, and tariff classification.
- Own trade master data and trade management tools, including SAP GTS and Oracle GTM, while training internal teams on trade compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in International Trade, Finance, Tax, International Business, Tax Law, or a similar field.
- At least 7 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, and audit defense.
- Strong understanding of US and Canadian import entry procedures across all transportation modes.
- Experience with the CBP ACE portal, CBSA CARM Client Portal, and relevant US and Canadian government agency import requirements.
- Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP systems; SAP experience is preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills are required.
Nice to have
- Certified Customs Specialist and/or Licensed Customs Broker credentials.
- Spanish communication skills.
