Senior Interior Designer (Health and Wellbeing)

Location: Empire State Building, New York, New York; full-time, onsite role

Salary: $149,671.54–$171,053.19 per year

What you will do

• Lead interior design for health and wellbeing projects from pre-design and programming through construction administration and closeout.
• Develop design concepts and strategies based on client missions, clinical workflows, patient and caregiver experience, and evidence-based design principles.
• Lead FF&E strategy, product research, material and furniture selection, finish schedules, specifications, and procurement coordination.
• Coordinate interior design with architecture, medical planning, MEP/FP, technology, signage and wayfinding, sustainability, and specialty consultant teams.
• Facilitate engagement with healthcare executives, clinical leaders, facilities teams, infection prevention representatives, and end users.
• Support healthcare pursuits, client presentations, practice growth, interdisciplinary reviews, and mentoring of junior designers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture from an accredited program.
• Active NCIDQ certification required.
• 12+ years of industry experience, including 10+ years of healthcare interior design experience.
• Knowledge of FGI Guidelines, ADA, infection control design principles, life safety coordination, and state Department of Health requirements.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
• Experience with healthcare FF&E strategy, finish selection, specifications writing, procurement coordination, and client-facing communication.

Nice to have

• AAHID certification or active progress toward certification.
• EDAC, LEED AP, or WELL AP accreditation.
• Experience with Lean planning, user group facilitation, mock-up planning, post-occupancy evaluation, or healthcare design research.
• Experience with academic medical centers, public-sector clients, integrated health systems, or healthcare pursuits.
