Electrical Design Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Remote, but candidates must be located in the San Francisco/San Jose Bay Area, California, USA. Travel may be required up to 75% as needed. The role reports to the main office in Tustin, California.

Salary: $100,000–$120,000 USD annually.

What you will do

• Design building electrical systems in line with project scopes, client requirements, codes, and industry standards.
• Develop power distribution, lighting and lighting control, fire alarm, nurse call, and other low-voltage systems.
• Conduct existing-building surveys and document electrical and fire alarm conditions.
• Prepare electrical specifications, construction documents, engineering reports, assessment reports, and Basis of Design documents.
• Coordinate with project teams, architects, other engineering disciplines, and clients through technical discussions and presentations.
• Support construction administration through RFI responses, submittal reviews, field coordination, technical input, and schedule coordination.

Requirements

• Must be located in the San Francisco/San Jose Bay Area.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
• At least 5 years of electrical design experience.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with electrical engineering calculations, including lighting photometrics, voltage drop, short-circuit and overcurrent protection coordination, and load calculations.
• Strong knowledge of applicable electrical codes, standards, design guidelines, communication, organization, and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Nice to have

• Experience with healthcare, science and technology, education, or commercial buildings.
• Knowledge of HCAI/OSHPD standards.
• Professional Engineer license.
• LEED accreditation or sustainable design experience.
