Principal Calibration Engineer (Marine Engines)

Location: Onsite in Fond du Lac or Oshkosh, Wisconsin, United States. Travel required for 8–10 weeks per year. Relocation is available.

Salary: $103,200–$144,000 annually, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus.

What you will do

• Lead complete engine calibration development for engine families, including dynamometer calibration and boat drivability testing.
• Develop software strategies for engine powertrain control and vessel propulsion, including emissions control, OBD, shifting, starting, transient behavior, and vessel control.
• Define and execute 1D simulation and co-simulation activities.
• Build comprehensive engine test and development plans while coordinating cross-functional resources.
• Analyze, prepare, and present technical data and recommendations.
• Improve development, validation, and calibration processes, and provide technical consultation and guidance to engineering teams, newer engineers, and technicians.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• At least 8 years of experience in engine or vehicle calibration.
• Experience with internal combustion engines and new engine development.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python for data analysis.
• Experience with engine control or vehicle control software development.
• Experience setting up, programming, and troubleshooting data acquisition systems.

Nice to have

• Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience creating and specifying engine control system strategies.
• Experience modeling engines and engine control systems with Simulink or an equivalent tool.
• Experience creating and analyzing Design of Experiments and performing regression analysis.
