Onsite Surgical Equipment Repair Specialist (Medical Equipment)

Location: Home based in Iowa, servicing customers in Central and Western Iowa, with a focus on the Des Moines area; fixed-location onsite role with extensive travel.

What you will do

• Inspect and test general surgery instrumentation.
• Disassemble malfunctioning equipment and remove, repair, or replace defective parts.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting instruments.
• Document maintenance activities, parts, repairs, and customer communications.
• Coordinate equipment pickup, delivery, quotations, repair-status tracking, and completed-repair delivery.
• Support maintenance-program development and periodic performance reviews.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license.
• Experience working with medical equipment in a hospital or clinic.
• Basic computer skills.
• Good near-sighted vision, color discrimination, hand-eye coordination, and precise hand dexterity.
• Ability to safely drive a box truck or Sprinter-style vehicle and use tools including digital calipers, grinding wheels, soldering irons, sandblasters, Dremel-style tools, torches, and test equipment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and emergency off-hours, and to travel extensively across the service area.
