What you will do

  • Provide intraoperative neuromonitoring during surgical procedures and monitor patients’ nervous systems.
  • Review patient medical histories and consult surgeons about structures at risk and monitoring modalities.
  • Communicate monitoring information to surgeons and surgical staff throughout each case.
  • Display, label, measure, and calculate waveform data, including latencies, amplitudes, and conduction times.
  • Select appropriate protocols, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure accurate data collection.
  • Complete IOM documentation, maintain equipment, and perform required maintenance checks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; no previous professional experience is typically required.
  • Eligibility for CNIM certification through an ABRET-recognized pathway and ability to obtain and maintain CNIM status.
  • Effective communication in English with surgeons and surgical staff, strong organization, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to manage changing schedules, competing demands, and unexpected events in the operating room.
  • Ability to travel regularly, transport and set up up to 50 lb of medical equipment, and meet hospital physical and vaccination requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for medical equipment in the country of operation.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, human anatomy and physiology, or technical troubleshooting.
  • Operating room experience.
