Текст:
TL;DR
Senior Radiation Effects Engineer I (Space): Developing radiation hardness assurance for satellite and airborne communication systems with an accent on radiation environment analysis, component testing, upset-rate prediction, and system-level risk assessment. Focus on simulating orbital environments, validating proton, heavy-ion, and total-dose tolerance, and shaping radiation reliability roadmaps for hardware, software, and firmware.
Location: Westminster, Colorado, United States; on-site
Company
develops communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms.
What you will do
- Own key aspects of the radiation hardness assurance plan for LEO orbits and beyond.
- Simulate radiation environments for different orbits using tools such as OMERE.
- Plan and conduct proton, heavy-ion, and total-dose radiation tests on components and products.
- Predict upset rates by combining environmental simulations with test data and perform system-level radiation risk analysis.
- Advise hardware, software, and firmware engineers on radiation-tolerant design, including part selection, EDAC, and watchdog timers.
- Present design reviews, support customer and executive discussions, contribute to proposals, and mentor the radiation effects team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- Minimum of four years of space product experience.
- Direct experience with radiation effects analysis, testing, risk management, or related responsibilities.
- Experience using automotive and high-volume commercial-grade parts in radiation environments.
- Strong understanding of radiation physics relevant to electronic components.
- Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.
Nice to have
- Experience with ray-tracing tools such as FASTRAD.
- Experience analyzing radiation susceptibility of RF components and III-V transistors, including GaAs and GaN.
- SEE analysis and testing of FPGAs, processors, RAM, and non-volatile memory.
- Knowledge of electronic circuit theory, Python scripting, and component test-data databases.
Culture & Benefits
- Hands-on, interactive, and autonomous work in a cross-functional environment.
- Startup setting focused on developing next-generation space systems.
- Opportunities to collaborate across engineering and business development functions.
