TL;DR
Senior Space Based Sensing Integration Engineer (Aerospace): Providing SETA systems engineering and independent technical assessment for a space-based radar mission across requirements, design, integration, test, launch, and early operations with an accent on MBSE, radar payload performance, and mission-level analysis. Focus on evaluating contractor architectures, validating end-to-end sensor and ground-system performance, supporting design reviews, and developing risk-mitigation recommendations for government leadership.

Location: Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Travel as needed. TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly required.

Salary: $190,000+ annually, depending on experience, certifications, and qualifications.

What you will do

  • Provide independent technical assessments of contractor designs, architectures, performance, and technical risks.
  • Support systems engineering activities across requirements development, design reviews, integration, testing, verification, launch, and early orbit operations.
  • Evaluate radar payload performance, RF hardware development, production testing, modeling, and system-level trade studies.
  • Support MBSE and digital engineering efforts, including system performance modeling, multi-sensor integration, and data fusion.
  • Analyze and validate end-to-end mission performance across sensors, ground systems, processing, and dissemination.
  • Prepare briefings, decision-support materials, and mitigation recommendations for government leadership while collaborating with government and contractor teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or a related technical field; a master’s degree or PhD is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in aerospace, space systems, or defense programs.
  • Experience across the full system lifecycle, including requirements, design, integration, test, and operations.
  • Experience with requirements traceability, architecture development, mission data processing, or ground-system architectures.
  • Experience with MBSE and SysML tools such as Cameo or MagicDraw.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including briefing senior leadership; TS/SCI clearance with CI Poly is required.

Nice to have

  • SETA or similar experience supporting a government program office and familiarity with DoD/IC acquisition processes.
  • Experience working with prime contractors and major subcontractors.
  • Background in satellite and payload engineering, communications architectures, crypto integration, or multi-sensor data fusion.
  • Experience with integration and test campaigns, launch-site operations, readiness reviews, or early orbit commissioning.
  • Proficiency with Tableau, Confluence, Jira, DOORS, Python, MATLAB, or similar analytical tools.
