Staff Advanced Programs Lead - EO/IR

Location: Northern Virginia or Aurora, Colorado, United States

Salary: $187,000–$218,000 per year, plus incentive compensation, equity grant, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead mission formulation contracts and guide cross-functional teams in delivering mission concepts, documentation, and customer support for EO/IR programs.
• Lead strategic capture campaigns for high-value government and commercial opportunities in EO/IR and optical remote sensing.
• Drive complex programs from early customer engagement and formulation through design concepts, execution, and delivery.
• Lead early-stage R&D activities and proposals as Principal Investigator.
• Create technical proposals, white papers, concept studies, feasibility analyses, literature reviews, and trade studies.
• Translate customer operational needs into technical requirements and collaborate with product management, business development, and engineering on new markets, products, and technologies.

Requirements

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Physics, Remote Sensing, Earth Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical or scientific field.
• At least 7 years of experience in Earth remote sensing mission and/or instrument development.
• Strong first-principles foundation and ability to decompose high-level mission objectives into technical concepts and solutions.
• Experience with infrared, multispectral, hyperspectral, or similar remote sensing phenomenologies.
• Experience with EO/IR and related space missions across government and commercial markets.
• Existing TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain and maintain it. Access to export-controlled information requires U.S.-person status, an applicable authorization exemption, or eligibility and reasonable likelihood of obtaining export authorization.

Nice to have

• Programming proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or Julia for space mission analysis and remote sensing concept development.
• Familiarity with early-stage business development and customer discovery.
• Training or experience in strategic planning, roadmapping, or scenario planning.
• Familiarity with satellite remote sensing and space systems development.
