What you will do
- Lead radiation effects analysis and resilience strategies for orbital compute systems.
- Analyze radiation effects on GPUs, CPUs, FPGAs, networking ASICs, memory systems, and power electronics.
- Define mitigation and fault-tolerance strategies including ECC, redundancy, fault detection, recovery, and software-defined resilience.
- Plan and execute radiation characterization campaigns with external laboratories and test facilities.
- Analyze test results, calculate reliability metrics, and develop radiation hardness assurance methodologies.
- Collaborate on shielding, component selection, platform architecture, anomaly investigations, and deployment readiness reviews.
Requirements
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in radiation effects analysis, radiation testing, or space systems reliability engineering.
- Deep understanding of radiation interactions with semiconductor devices and electronic systems.
- Strong knowledge of Total Ionizing Dose, Single Event Effects, and Displacement Damage.
- Experience planning and executing radiation characterization campaigns with external test facilities.
- Experience with high-performance computing hardware, semiconductor devices, or spaceborne electronics.
- Must satisfy U.S. ITAR eligibility requirements: U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residence, protected-individual status, or eligibility to obtain the required authorizations.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with architectural fault tolerance and resilient distributed systems.
- Knowledge of NASA, ESA, ECSS, or MIL-STD radiation qualification standards.
- Experience with shielding optimization, radiation simulations, or material characterization.
Culture & Benefits
- High autonomy and ownership of critical spacecraft hardware systems.
- Fast iteration from design to hardware testing with close cross-disciplinary collaboration.
- Equity in .
