Senior Traffic Operations Engineer

Location: New York, United States; regular on-site work may be required at local facilities or agency offices, including occasional non-standard business hours.

Salary: $117,600–$176,400 annually.

What you will do

• Lead engineering teams developing transportation solutions for large and complex regional transportation hubs.
• Provide guidance, oversight, and final review for traffic engineering designs covering signs, striping, signals, parking, loading areas, and curbside frontages.
• Oversee safety and the state of good repair for transportation infrastructure at agency facilities.
• Coordinate with clients, agency officials, facility staff, stakeholders, and internal and external consultant teams.
• Manage client requests, project and facility budgets, staff assignments, and transportation project delivery.
• Interpret data analytics, coordinate with construction projects, and develop recommendations that support safety and user experience.

Requirements

• At least 10 years of experience in transportation engineering.
• Degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, urban planning, or a related field.
• PE license required, preferably in New York or New Jersey.
• Valid United States driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States required.
• Experience working with public agencies on large-scale transportation infrastructure projects.
• Expert knowledge of transportation engineering manuals and procedures, including MUTCD, AASHTO Green Book, AASHTO Roadside Design Guide, HCM, and the CEQR Technical Manual.

Nice to have

• PTOE certification.
• Familiarity with industry-standard sign design software.
• Familiarity with Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, and pedestrian and transit analyses.
