Transportation Engineer

Location: Princeton, New Jersey, United States; full-time onsite position

Base compensation: $74,400–$111,600 annually

What you will do

• Provide in-house engineering support and guidance for state, county, and municipal transportation projects.
• Conduct crash analyses and develop data-driven safety recommendations.
• Support and manage transportation safety programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate engagement with internal teams, external stakeholders, and public-sector partners.
• Develop safety targets, KPIs, and summary reports.
• Contribute to Strategic Highway Safety Plan activities and review Highway Safety Improvement Program assessments and performance plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of transportation or traffic engineering design experience.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required.
• Experience with the NJDOT Roadway Design Guide, MUTCD, and AASHTO Green Book.
• Understanding of transportation safety principles and infrastructure design.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE), AICP, or Road Safety Professional (RSP) certification.
• Experience with NJDOT Complete Streets Policy, Safe System Approach, or Vision Zero concepts.
• Knowledge of the Highway Safety Manual, PROWAG/ADA Standards, NJDOT HSIP or SHSP publications, and NACTO publications.
