Lead Electrification Engineer, Rail + Transit

Location: Toronto, Canada — 380 Wellington Street West

Base compensation: CAD 145,000–200,000 annually

What you will do

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of rail and transit electrification projects across Canada.
• Act as the technical authority for traction power, substations, power distribution, overhead contact systems, and related infrastructure.
• Guide multidisciplinary teams through feasibility studies, preliminary engineering, detailed design, procurement, and construction support.
• Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, specifications, design packages, and construction documents.
• Coordinate system integration across civil, structural, track, signaling, communications, and operations disciplines.
• Build client relationships, support business development, mentor engineers, and lead quality and technical review processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Canadian Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation is required.
• At least 10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience, including significant rail, transit, transportation, or large infrastructure project experience.
• Experience leading electrification projects involving traction power, substations, overhead contact systems, power distribution, or related transit infrastructure.
• Knowledge of Canadian electrical codes, standards, utility coordination requirements, and transportation industry practices.
• Experience managing technical teams, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering work, and engaging directly with clients.

Nice to have

• Experience supporting major transit agencies, commuter rail, light rail transit, metro systems, or passenger rail networks.
