TL;DR
Lead Electrical Engineer (Power Systems): Designing and commissioning electrical systems for solar, wind, battery storage, microgrid, and building infrastructure projects with an accent on power distribution, protection and control, and power system modelling. Focus on developing low-, medium-, and high-voltage designs, integrating renewable energy sources, preparing technical specifications and tenders, and mentoring junior engineers.

Location: Hybrid position based out of the office in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada

What you will do

  • Develop conceptual and detailed electrical designs for solar, wind, battery storage, microgrid, and building infrastructure projects.
  • Design and analyze low-, medium-, and high-voltage power distribution systems, including utility and building interconnections.
  • Develop microgrid control, protection, and control systems and perform power system modelling.
  • Audit existing electrical systems and prepare proposals, specifications, calculations, equipment selections, tenders, and costing.
  • Support commissioning, prepare operations and maintenance manuals, and train customer staff.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Degree or Master of Engineering in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or Control Systems.
  • At least 10 years of electrical engineering experience.
  • Provincial Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng).
  • Strong knowledge of low-, medium-, and high-voltage distribution and building electrical systems.
  • Experience with microgrid control, protection and control, renewable energy integration, SCADA, instrumentation, and measurement equipment.
  • Proficiency with power system analysis and modelling software such as ETAP, EasyPower, or PSCAD, as well as AutoCAD and Excel.
