Roadway, Bridge and Guideway Engineer

Location: Fresno, California, United States; full-time, on-site in the Central Valley region with 100% travel to designated field sites.

Salary: $120,000–$190,000 per year ($57–$91 per hour)

What you will do

• Perform daily field inspections of bridges, guideways, elevated structures, retaining walls, foundations, and related civil infrastructure.
• Monitor structural concrete, reinforcing steel, prestressed and post-tensioned systems, structural steel erection, bearings, expansion joints, precast elements, falsework, and shoring.
• Evaluate completed work against plans, specifications, contract requirements, safety standards, and quality requirements; coordinate corrective actions for non-conforming work.
• Review inspection reports, material certifications, placement records, testing documentation, and quality control records.
• Document field observations, deficiencies, progress, testing, and material sampling through photographs and electronic reporting systems.
• Coordinate with specialty inspectors, survey personnel, utility representatives, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders through completion and final acceptance.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, engineering technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 5+ years of bridge, guideway, railroad, or heavy-civil construction inspection experience.
• Experience documenting construction inspections through detailed records and reports, and interpreting structural drawings, shop drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
• Knowledge of QA/QC principles, construction methods, structural systems, safety, traffic control, and environmental compliance for active rail and highway sites.
• Experience with project and construction management software such as Primavera P6, TILOS, Procore, Unifier, or FieldManager, plus Microsoft Office 365.
• A California-compliant motor vehicle license and ability to travel between active construction sites are required.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or engineering technology.
• ACI, ICC Reinforced Concrete Special Inspector, AWS Certified Welding Inspector, OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety, or equivalent certifications.
• 10+ years of inspection experience on large transportation infrastructure programs, including passenger, commuter, or freight rail.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and state DOT bridge design and construction standards.
• Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other dashboard KPI reporting software.
