Welding Trainer

Location: Justin, Texas, with approximately 50% travel to Houston, Texas, and Kansas City, Missouri. The role is performed in shop-floor and training environments.

What you will do

• Evaluate employee welding skills, identify development gaps, and create individualized training plans.
• Deliver hands-on instruction in pipe and plate welding, including FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and other arc welding processes.
• Develop written, visual, and instructional materials such as guides, presentations, and videos.
• Conduct welder testing and certification activities in accordance with AWS, ASME, and other applicable standards.
• Track trainee progress, provide coaching and feedback, and support career development for high-potential employees.
• Maintain certification records, update training programs with current welding technologies, and support robotic welding initiatives.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in pipe welding and stainless-steel welding applications.
• Advanced knowledge of FCAW, GMAW, GTAW, and related welding techniques.
• Experience with welder qualification testing and certification processes.
• Working knowledge of ASTM, AWS, ASME, and AWWA codes and standards.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical schematics; proficiency in shop math and precision measuring tools.
• High school diploma or equivalent, manufacturing or steel fabrication experience, strong communication and coaching skills, and the ability to work independently across multiple locations.

Nice to have

• Additional welding certifications or training credentials.
• Experience with robotic welding systems and programming.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
