Crisis & Referral Specialist (Behavioral Health)

Location: Applicants must reside in Georgia and remain within a reasonable commuting distance of the Atlanta or Columbus posting locations. The role is primarily virtual full-time, with required in-person training sessions. Training runs Monday-Friday, 10:00am-6:30pm EST. Call center shifts operate 24/7, including weekends and holidays.

What you will do

• Handle inbound calls, texts, and chats from people seeking support or experiencing a crisis.
• Conduct safety screenings and behavioral health assessments to determine risk acuity.
• Provide telephonic intervention and de-escalation using established protocols.
• Develop action plans with individuals and connect them with appropriate services and resources.
• Document interactions accurately and complete follow-up to confirm access to services.
• Coordinate with agencies, organizations, and support networks while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of behavioral health experience, or at least six months of direct crisis experience involving screenings and assessments, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Availability for rotating 24/7 call center shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in mental health or another human services field.
• Two years of direct experience supporting people with behavioral health needs.
• Call center and crisis experience.
