Crisis Support Specialist (Behavioral Health)

What you will do

• Screen and assess individuals and families experiencing crises through calls, chats, and text messages.
• Conduct risk assessments, create safety plans, and provide crisis intervention through active listening, de-escalation, and problem-solving.
• Refer individuals to community resources and coordinate with mobile crisis providers when clinically appropriate.
• Coordinate with emergency responders when there is imminent risk.
• Complete post-crisis follow-up calls to support connection with community resources.
• Meet performance indicators and service standards, complete training, and participate in supervision.

Requirements

• High school diploma and four years of experience in social work, mental health, or a related field, or an associate degree and two years of relevant experience.
• Behavioral health work experience.
• Excellent communication skills, professional demeanor, and ability to build rapport with callers.
• Empathy, ethical boundaries, confidentiality, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in high-stress environments.
• Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute and ability to use multiple computer systems simultaneously.
• Ability to attend and successfully complete more than 200 hours of training covering customer service, crisis intervention, risk assessment, mental health, community resources, and related topics.
