Crisis & Referral Coordinator (US)-4

Location: Must reside in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or New York, United States. The role is primarily virtual full-time, with required in-person training sessions; candidates must be within reasonable commuting distance of a listed office unless an accommodation is granted. Training runs Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. EST. Work schedules include varied first, second, and third shifts, including weekends, in a 24/7/365 call center.

Salary: $22.17–$26.11 per hour for candidates working in New York or Massachusetts.

What you will do

• Conduct outbound follow-up calls and emails with individuals who contacted the helpline in emotional distress or crisis.
• Confirm linkage to recommended support services and troubleshoot barriers to accessing care.
• Review safety plans where applicable and assess whether they remain appropriate.
• Identify and coordinate referrals to local, state, and federally funded behavioral health programs.
• Dispatch mobile crisis teams when available.
• Prepare reports and maintain a validated database of resources and service offerings.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of behavioral health experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of behavioral health social services and insurance systems.
• Understanding of factors affecting experiences within the mental health system, including trauma, disability, socioeconomic status, identity, and language-related factors.
• Residence in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island, or New York is required.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in mental health, human services, or a related field.
• Direct experience supporting individuals who need behavioral health services.
