Credit and Collection Specialist - Patient Accounts (Healthcare)

Location: Lake Mary, Florida, United States; hybrid schedule with in-office work 1–2 days per week. Candidates must live within a reasonable commuting distance unless an accommodation is granted by law.

What you will do

• Contact groups and patients regarding past-due insurance premiums, claims, and patient balances.
• Research disputed debts and verify account demographics, guarantor information, and balance accuracy.
• Generate demand letters and prepare credit and collection status reports for management.
• Follow up on aged and current patient receivables to reduce outstanding balances and improve cash collections.
• Process credit and debit payments, post transactions, and document collection activity in account notes.
• Handle inbound and outbound patient calls, explain balances, answer questions, and request payment respectfully.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of prior commercial debt collection experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Understanding of accounts receivable concepts, including aging, denials, patient responsibility, payment posting, and account status.
• Comfort using Excel-based worklists and communicating by phone with patients, including upset or confused callers.
• Ability to work in-office 1–2 days per week from a reasonable commuting distance to Lake Mary, Florida.
