Senior Highway Engineer / Group Leader

Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States; full-time, onsite role

Compensation: $132,708.77–$151,667.16 per year

What you will do

• Lead transportation design projects for PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission from planning through final design.
• Develop and oversee roadway geometric design, 3D models, cross-sections, traffic control plans, signing and pavement marking plans, and right-of-way plans.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, cost estimates, scopes of work, and task estimates.
• Coordinate with clients, multidisciplinary engineering teams, and marketing professionals throughout project development.
• Mentor junior engineers and design staff while supporting quality control and professional growth.
• Contribute to proposal development, client engagement, industry organizations, and regional business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required; Pennsylvania PE preferred.
• Approximately 10–15 years of highway engineering experience.
• Experience working with PennDOT and/or the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission.
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Bentley OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of AASHTO design standards, transportation engineering practices, quality control, communication, and team collaboration.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering.
• Experience with transportation agencies in New Jersey, New York, or other transportation authorities.
