Senior CEI Inspector

Location: Atlanta, Georgia, United States; long-term, full-time, onsite position. The initial assignment is a 16-mile SR 400 corridor north of Atlanta, and the exact position location may change.

Salary: $72,000–$85,000 per year ($35–$41 per hour).

What you will do

• Conduct complex inspections of roadway and structure construction processes and materials for compliance with construction contracts.
• Supervise and provide work direction to lower-level inspectors performing routine and moderately complex inspections.
• Perform contract administration, field measurements of pay items, invoiced-work verification, and required project documentation.
• Participate in concept meetings, field plan reviews, CPM schedule reviews, project close-out activities, and project coordination meetings.
• Perform project engineering duties on smaller projects and administer, inspect, and manage local-let projects when assigned.
• Ensure municipalities comply with LAP processes and that project funding allocations are properly managed across project phases.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 4 years of progressive transportation technician experience with a state highway agency or equivalent directly related experience.
• Thorough knowledge of highway construction materials, methods, and equipment, including related algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
• Ability to interpret construction plans, contract provisions, specifications, and inspection procedures, and prepare or review reports.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate lower-level employees, with strong communication, organization, analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
• Must be licensed to operate motor vehicles in accordance with Georgia law. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Outlook, and internet tools is required.

• GSWCC Level 1a Erosion Control certification.
• Passing scores on GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training Group 3 tests covering earthwork, bridges, and incidental items.
